Band Review : Listana

We are ordinary citizens of Istanbul, losing hours to traffic, trying to get to work, school, always rushing somewhere... However, our existence was transformed when our music opened up the gates of the fairy-tale city Listana for us. We became "We", we became "one", we discovered ourselves in the realm of Listana through music. Listana is a five piece female-fronted progressive-symphonic metal band from Istanbul, Turkey, whose current members are Fulya Çelikel (vocals/keyboards), Alp Soğancı (guitars), Ali Göktürk (keyboards), Tolga Can Şatır (bass) and Ozan Gümrükçü (drums). It was founded in 2011 by idealist amateur musicians, who sought to develop their musical skills further by playing covers. Feeling that music making provided an escape from their tough daily routines, the band members adopted the name "Listana" for their alternative Istanbul. The name originates from an Amin Maalouf novel and has a quasi historical-fantastical feeling to it. The band prioritized live performance from its onset and performed in more than 30 local and international concerts. After the habitual lineup changes and demo recordings, their output up to date is gathered together in an EP album, released digitally under the name “Unveiled”. The band is currently making occasional public appearances while working on their full length studio album.
