Interview with Winter of Sin

This time we got a chance to interview a band from the Netherlands that is Winter of sin. I thank you in advance for Ricardo Gelok been willing we interviewed about the winter of sin and their new album which will be released in the near term. Please refer to our interview with Ricardo Gelok.

PJ : how are you today and what your busy now ?

Ricardo : HI, I’m fine . I'm working hard to promote the new album of Winter of sin. It's a lot of work to do it, but it's also fun.

PJ : Can U tell me history Winter of Sin ?

Ricardo : Winter of Sin started in 1998 as a death metal band with some doom metal influences. In 2000 we released our first demo/cd called "Hailstorm". We did a lot of shows and recorded some more demos. In time our style changed to add more black metal to our music. In 2005 we signed a deal with our previous label "Woest" was our first release at the label. In 2008 we released "Razernij" witch had even more black metal than before. We did some tours to promote the albums. When some band members left Winter of Sin, Dirk and I were the only original members left.
Then I asked Henri Sattler and Michiel van der Plicht (both ex-God Dethroned) if they like to join us (both were already good friends of mine) So we could record "Violence Reigns Supreme".

PJ : why did you choose the name Winter of sin ?

Ricardo : I think the name "Winter of Sin" describes the feeling of cold and evil at the same time, but also so kind of sadness and depression.

PJ : what the Influence Winter of sin in playing music ?

Ricardo : Dirk and in both like the black/death style of metal. We are into bands like: Abigor, Dissection, Unanimated and so on. So in guess you can hear those influences.

PJ : What lyrical theme do you guys use in your music? What message do you want to send?

Ricardo : The lyrical theme is an evil entity from out of space is abducting people to do tests on them, and implants devises to control them. And those aliens will enslave the weak, and/or kill the human race. The message what in have in my lyrics, is that signals that people we given in time, and that were interpreted as the word of "gods" could also been sings from aliens.

PJ : can you tell me a little bit of preparation for new album Winter of sin ?

Ricardo : Well Dirk and I wrote all the music at home, and we take these songs to the rehearsals, and play them with the band, and shape the songs where necessary. And when all the songs were ready we booked the studio and started recording "Violence Reing Supreme"

PJ : can u tell me, how your can cooperate with Cyclone Empire for release new album ?

Ricardo : Well, after the album was recorded, we send out a promo to them, and they were really enthusiast, and offered us a record deal.

PJ : Where did you record the new album Violence Reigns Supreme and how did the recording process go?

Ricardo : We recorded the album at the "Soundlodge Studio" in Germany. The recordings went very smooth.  Jörg Uken (the producer/studio owner) is really skilled. He knew Winter of Sin already, so it was a feeling of coming home again.

PJ : How long your band make it album and whether there are constraints?

Ricardo : Michiel did all the drums in only 4 hours, so that is really amazing. The guitars and bass were recorded in only 2 weeks, as the vocals were done in one weekend. So everything went really smooth.

PJ : What sort of themes are you dealing with on the album and what topics do the lyrics cover?

Ricardo : The theme of the cover shows a sight of humans who are suffering by some "alien" devise, and are thrown into a "maelstrom of hell"

PJ : how the Blackened Death Metal music scene in your country?

Ricardo : We have here a good scene here in the Netherlands. There are a lot of great bands who are really active and do a lot of shows.

PJ : after the release of your album, are there any other activities such as a tour of the album ?

Ricardo : Yes, we will do live promotion, and in think there will be more to come.

PJ : Last question, how do you respond to the Pasukan Jihad webzine this and any suggestions for the future in order to survive Pasukan Jihad webzine?

Ricardo : I am really happy we have fans in Indonesia, we are really thankful with your support!
It's good for the scene in your country that you provide your webzine to all the fans out there...so you have my respect for that!
