18 September 2015 kemarin merupakan hari perilisan debut album penuh ke tujuh bagi band asal detroit, USA ini. Dibawah bendera Metal blade records, The Black Dahlia Murder band beraliran melodic death metal tersebut merilis album "Abysmal". Album Abysmal berisikan 10 track dan salah satu lagunya mereka rilis dalam bentuk video clip yang berjudul Receipt. Ryan "Bart" williams turut membantu proses album abysmal sebagai producer dan Mark Lewis sebagai engineering proses mixing and mastering. Selain itu seorang artworker bernama daemorph juga turut berkontribusi dalam penggarapan cover art.
Abysmal adalah album paling emosional bagi The Black Dahlia Murder, Sang vokalis Trevor menjelaskan "Once the record started to come together we knew it was going to be something special, It’s more urgent, it has more dynamics, it’s a more emotive record, and it has a more raw, angry sound to it. It’s still million mile-per-hour death metal, but when you invest so much thought and emotion into what you’re creating you end up with a record that does stand out, and we can hold our heads up high and say yeah, this is our best work".
